What is spring/summer shipping?

As temperatures continue to rise in most of the country, we have moved into "spring/summer shipping" mode.

WHAT IS SPRING/SUMMER SHIPPING?

While many companies may discontinue shipping of products such as butters and balms during the hot months, The Skin Society will continue offering it. It is one of our most popular items and we would have some very unhappy customers if they couldn't get it through the summer!

We have made some small changes to make shipping things that might melt during the spring/summer more bareable. All packages that contain products that may melt and are shipped during high heat times will be packed with thermal wrap and contain gel ice packs (feel free to reuse these!). All spring/summer orders containing these products will also be shipped USPS Priority Mail so we can get it to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE?

At The Skin Society, we only create natural skin and body care products. As we keep it natural at our company, the products are often affected by temperature. To make our products more temperature stable, we would have to add synthetic ingredients - and we refuse! It is more important to us that the products have the highest concentration of all things that make our skin beautiful.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

Well, we can't control what happens once USPS drops it off to you. Mailboxes can get extremely hot in the summer, so can packages left out on a porch. We just ask that you keep an eye on tracking so you can grab your package as soon as it arrives. You could also have your package shipped to work or  family member/friend that may work from home.

MY PRODUCTS MELTED ANYWAY! HELP!

If your product does melt or is soft upon arrival, in spite of the efforts we have made to prevent it, please don't worry! A melted product is not a...BAD product. Leave your product at room temperature for a couple hours or pop it in the fridge or freezer for a minute or two and it'll go back to solid. It may appear a slight different but it will still be the same super moisturizing butter or balm.

WHICH PRODUCTS DOES THIS AFFECT?

The Whipped Shea Butter, Eczema Butter, Beard Balm & Primrose & Coco Eye Jelly are the most sensitive to heat of all the products we offer. If you receive these products and they are soft or melted, clean up any spilled residue and then give it a good stir! After that, pop it in the fridge!

DO NOT LEAVE PRODUCTS IN YOUR CAR!
Cars get VERY hot in the spring/summer and the excessive heat can quickly melt products.

KEEP PRODUCT AWAY FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
This can change the texture and stability of your product and even melt it in some cases. Some of the oils used are very delicate and sensitive to UV rays from the sun. It's best to keep products in cool places out of direct sunlight.
